Saving Lives and Creating Families Since 1989
Pope Memorial Humane Society is your local animal shelter, devoted to caring for homeless and abandoned companion animals, and finding new homes for them.
Programs include Adoption, Foster, K-9 Corrections (in cooperation with Maine State Prison), Low Income Spay/Neuter Assistance for residents of participating communities, Community Outreach and Humane Education. We accept animals from all over the mid-coast and, when space allows, from one South Carolina rescue that saves animals from kill shelters there.
We could not carry out the mission without help from hundreds of volunteers, businesses and individuals who donate time, goods and funds to continue this mission.
